Mark Campbell Quartet

new interpretations

UpcOming Shows:

The MC 3 and special guests - August 3rd, 2024 at Tyrant Studios.

Comprised of Mark Campbell (Roots Roundup, Zimbamoto, Space 9) on guitar and vocals, Jason Overy (Uzume Taiko, D.O.A.) on drums, Russell Scholberg (Pugs and Crows, Tony Wilson) on upright bass and Laurence Santos (Space 9) on tenor sax, the Mark Campbell Quartet play a mixture of original material, interpretations of modern tunes and funk/ jazz- experimental madness infused with latin and reggae flavours. Blues, rock and jazz collide against a framework of syncopated grooves that is the realization of the MC4.

Some fantastic photos taken at our last Guilt and Co. show June 15th 2024 by Jad Shoker. It was yet another a great night there! Below is some video from our first set.

And The whole first set can be watched below on a Youtube playlist.

Such an exquisite evening of music and guests during our last performance at Seven Tyrants Studio sharing the night with Tyrant’s own mesmerizing Daniel Doerksen Band September 16th 2023!

Ingrid Valou ripped it up onstage with us during our version of Ernest Ranglin’s “Surfin”.

And Dan the Man himself joined us for a rousing rendition of Frank Zappa’s “Blessed Relief”.

THankful To Be playing…

In October 2021, the Mark Campbell Trio was formed to play together live after the long hiatus imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic. Made up of Mark Campbell (Roots Roundup, Zimbamoto, Space 9) on guitar and vocals, Jason Overy (Uzume Taiko, D.O.A.) on drums and Russell Scholberg ( Pugs and Crows, Tony Wilson) on upright bass, the trio play a mixture of original material, interpretations of modern tunes and funky jazz/experimental madness infused with latin and reggae flavours.

and…

The mc3 is now the mc4!

Laurence Santos.

We are tickled pink that we have been joined by tenor saxophonist and keyboardist Laurence Santos ( Space 9). An accomplished composer and improvisor in his own right, Lzo Santos brings a wealth of experience and creativity to our sound. Now I can just play chords sometimes. Yes! But not quite as well as him.
